Review of IFAT India 2016

The success of IFAT India 2016, which came to a close on September 28, in Mumbai, was further proof: India's Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Refuse and Recycling attracted many national and international exhibitors and visitors.

Covering 6,100 square meters of exhibition space - a rise of 23 percent - IFAT India 2016 was bigger than ever before. Also in terms of visitors, the numbers exceeded expectations: For the first time, more than 5,000 trade visitors participated in the event. Once again IFAT India had a very strong international component. Of the 143 exhibitors, over half, i.e. 54 percent, came from outside India. After India the biggest contingents of exhibitors came from Germany, China, Switzerland, Italy and the US.

The exhibitors praised the strong footfall of the visitors at their booths and their high professional level. One of the key themes at this year's event was the acute water crisis on the subcontinent. At IFAT India 2016 the exhibition space dedicated to water and wastewater management has risen by 71 percent. And the interest in solid waste management has increased remarkably, too. This upswing underlines just how important our event is, as a showcase for solutions to the current challenges being faced in the country, and as a forum for bringing together supply and demand."

Exhibitor Testimonials

Tobias Loffelsend, Sales Director, Brock "IFAT is the most important exhibition on waste water management and also in the waste management business. The number of the people visiting IFAT India has increased this year which augurs well, for such a trade fair. There are no alternatives to this kind of an event, with the kind of specialization and quality of related technology on display. What distinguishes IFAT from other trade fairs, is that people participate in it from all over the world and they try to create business in India and the Asian market. It was nice meeting industry stakeholders and market operators and we have already taken a decision of participating at IFAT India next year."

D.G. Guru, Director and COO, Koerting Engineering "It is the third time that we are here at IFAT India and the trade fair is on a path of continuous growth. The visitor quality is enormous and we met many potential clients. Other events in India only focus on water management, but IFAT India comprises all the sections in the environmental industry including waste disposal. This makes IFAT India so unique and important. We will come back again in 2017."

Vikas Agarwal, Associate Vice-President & Business Sector Head, Water Resource Management & Building and Construction, Kirloskar Brothers Limited "We have been a regular at IFAT in Germany as well as in India and it has always been a great experience being exhibitors. This edition of IFAT India has certainly been a tipping-point of sorts with a better turn-out of visitors and industry players, in terms of numbers and quality. There was also a marked increase in the participation from Government agencies and we had the opportunity to interact with many policy makers, government officials and people related to the waste water sector. It has always been a delight participating at IFAT India and the committed team at Messe Muenchen, along with the entire fraternity of IFAT India, continues to make our experience even better every year. We look forward to returning the next year with even better product portfolio and a fully charged team to man our stall, and help make IFAT India 2017 even more of a success."

S. Thirumoorthi, Associate Vice-President, CRI pumps "This is the first time we are exhibiting at IFAT India 2016 and this is a very new experience for us as we are meeting new clients, media, government officials and people relevant to our industry. IFAT India acts as a platform for us to showcase our products and new technologies that we are launching in the market, directly to the policy makers and government officials. We are pleased with the response and we hope to exhibit at IFAT India in the next edition."
