Capacity Development

India suffers from a severe shortage of skilled professionals. More than 95% of the workforce have no qualification at all. Government campaigns such as the Clean Ganga Project or Make in India have further increased the need for skilled labor: 300 million skilled workers are currently missing. The shortage of qualified workers with technical know-how is becoming a problem for companies in the environmental sector in India.

At the Capacity Development Day, at IFAT India 2015 experts discussed the qualification needs in the Indian environmental sector. Thus, a series of individual lectures and a panel discussion were held to identify needs and solutions.

Experts on this important topic included Prof. Eldho T.I. from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, Prof. J├╝rgen Lehmann from the University of Applied Sciences Hof, Dr. Kapil Narula from the CII Triveni Water Institute and Dr. Rashid Hasan from the Indian Environmental Ministry, among others.
